February 28th, 2010 2 comments

Album: Only Built 4 cuban linx(1995)
Lyrics:

[Intro: Raekwon]
KnowhatI’msayin? Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Check it, yo, yo, yo, yo

[Verse One: Raekwon]
Stand on the block Reebok gun cocked
Avalance rock get paid off mass murderous services
Chef break em, watch the alley cats bake em
Four-nine made em, Jah create em take em
quick fast we reflect like the sky be blue true
Wu-Tang saga continue
Grab Myer Lansky crashin fantasy
get high fellas, stand by, ‘here’s the plan, see?’
sit back collectin’ Tecs N checks and
blowin slow in a Montaro flexin
Beats break heavily word to INS bless me
Blow me like three bags of cess
For real from the Killa Hill locked and caged in
We’re swarm representatives, reactin like paid men
Strive for why’s, nine lives in lies
Max sell and enjoy the highs — what

[Chorus]
[Raekwon the Chef] The treasure is the glaciers of ice
[Ghostface] Orginal man
[Raekwon/Ghost] Posess the power to hold G’s guns and grams
[Ghostface] Caker baker
[Raekwon the Chef] Pull off a keystone caper
Point out the baddest in the crowd
[Raekwon/Ghost] And i’m a scrape her

[Verse Two: Masta Killa]
Proceed with caution as you enter the symphony
Degrees of pulse will increase intensely
Syndrome was caused by the deadly drums
But the battle was won by swords being swung
Slicing with a vocal
From the international vocalist
Ya style is too local
To with this
All fits of antagonists
No assistance movin motionless
Mysterious swiftness
Thoughts roll down the shaft of the brain
Mental gives the signal to the physical
Whirlwind kicks and hits from every angle
Violent temperments
Uncountenance dented
Poison vintage wine rhymes I invented
Chumped by the drunken punches that punches the heart
Vital sparks from the arteries start

[Verse Three: Ghostface Killah]
The treasure is the glaciers of ice original man
Posess the power of hold G’s guns and grams
-Straight up and down it’s all good
Peace to them check castin chain snatchin gun flashin
Niggaz in the hood bubblin good
Analyze stocks, we’ll be buyin lion heads and cloths
To all my house bitches, Starks will be home soon
I’m on tour chill, catch you Ninety-Six in June
But until then my ten-man team be safe
Chill on the whips to settle this, we can all get laced
Take a boat cruise, sip daquiris and max swimmin pools
Fly jewels Wally shoes blow stacks relax kid
black kids got a cravin for grapes until we get back
I’m packed leave the Mac that you’re with
but whatever, I gotta hit other sides of the Earth
Spread Wu-ness, foolish, civilization’s cursed
But luckily I’m born to be wild and aure-al
Move crowds collect twenty thou and then we out
Heavy convoys my crew keep pretty boys paranoid
Blow like a steroid pat Dan’s they’re Akyroid
My seeds growin his seeds marry his seeds
that’s how we keep Wu-Tang money all up in the family

[Chorus: Ghostface]

[Outro: Ghostface Killah]
my seeds growin his seeds marry his seeds
that’s how we keep Wu-Tang money all up in the family

{it’s been a long time…
since Wu-Tang family came to shine…}

Elvis Presley # THE MOVIE Clambake # part 10 of 10

February 28th, 2010 1 comment

Clambake is a 1967 musical film starring Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares.Scott Heyward is the son of a rich oilman. He decides to leave so he can discover life for himself. He runs into Tom Wilson, a water-skiing instructor who has no luck with the women. Tom offers to switch places with Scott so they can have a taste of what life is like in each other’s shoes. Scott goes to work teaching water skiing for a Miami hotel, while Tom has fun pretending he is rich. Scott is taken with Dianne Carter, who is searching for a rich guy to snag. She decides to make a play for James J. Jamison III, owner of a pajama company and a boat-racing champion. Scott agrees to help her land Jamison, but in the process falls for her.
This was the last film for which Elvis was able to demand and receive a $1,000,000 salary. The relative lackluster box office performance of this movie, combined with his desire to do more serious, less commercial films, meant that studios were no longer willing to guarantee him a seven figure paycheck for his performance.
The soundtrack songs were released as a music album in November 1967 to coincide with the film. The film songs were augmented by several non-film recordings, including the recent hit singles “Guitar Man” and “Big Boss Man”. RCA took the unusual move of programming the Guitar Man single to lead off the album, rather than the usual pattern of leading off with the film title track.

TRACK LISTING:

1. Guitar Man (Jerry Reed)
2. Clambake (Ben Weisman,Sid Wayne)

heart of darkness ???

February 27th, 2010 3 comments

Has anyone read the "Heart of Darkness" of Joseph Conrad? I just don’t understand what the book is saying. Can you guys help me with these questions ?

1. When he is on the boat, who does Marlow overhear speaking about Kurtz ?
2. Why does Marlow compare the jungle to prehistoric times ?
3. How does the cannibals’food affect Marlow ?
4. Why does the book Marlow finds in the hut interest him ?
5. Why couldn’t the men aboard the boat spend money for food ?
6. Who aboard the boat is killed during the attack ?
7. How does Marlow scar the natives during the fight ?
8. Why does Marlow throw his shoes overboard ?
9. Why does the Russian leave a note on the woodpile ?

1. When Marlow is on his steamer, he overhears the manager and his uncle. They’re complaining that Kurtz wants to take over the manager’s position and conspire to let Kurtz die of disease.

2. While Marlow is describing his surroundings (going back upriver), he calls it a trip back to prehistoric times. It reflects the European inclination to view the natives in the jungle as primitive, further back on the evolutionary scale than Europeans.

3. The cannibals never get to eat because they either hold back or the dead bodies get thrown overboard. Their inexplicable restraint impresses Marlow to the point that he sees them as being more civilized than the Europeans that he knows.

4. That book! So, after being in the wild/Congo/jungle for so long, the site of a practical seaman’s manual is so absurd looking and surreal to him that he is just stunned. It’s just ridiculous to find something so scholarly in that wild place. Also, he thought the notes in the margins were written in a secret code, as if a native would try to read it. This is funny to Marlow. But really, it’s Russian and sadly, this makes Marlow look like one of the savages. He is faced with a real, European language and regards it as a made up "cypher".

5. The colonized peoples were only given brass as "money" to use for trade. Brass was pretty useless and also, no one was allowed to leave the steamer to trade because it was dangerous to stop the steamer (natives attacking from the bank and very difficult to navigate).

6. The helmsman is killed (he was the one steering).

7. The ship’s whistle scared them off.

8. One, cause they were sullied with the helmsman’s blood. Deeper reasons are inferred. He can be disposing of some of his civilized lifestyle by tossing the shoes, as if to give himself up to the wilderness. Without shoes, he is that much closer to being a native. It is definitely a significant move, as Marlow himself can’t explain why he just wasted a perfectly good pair of shoes.

9. The Russian leaves a note leading to the woodpile so that Marlow’s crew can use it as fuel on their steamer.

Short story opinions (again)?

Snow White and Rose Red
A long time ago, a woman lived alone in a cottage on a tiny island. In her garden grew two rose bushes, one red as blood, and the other white as snow.
The woman grew old, with no one to care for her in her dotage. She had some small knowledge of magic, so she cast a spell upon the rose bushes, wishing for a child as white as snow, another red as blood.
When she woke next morning, she found two little girls standing where her rose bushes used to grow. One little girl was dark haired, dark eyed, lips of scarlet red. The other was fair haired and so pale it was said you could almost see through her. Snow White was quiet and gentle, preferring to stay indoors and help her mother. Rose Red was often out, exploring the woods and streams of their small island home. Every day without fail she would return with a gift for her mother. A pine cone, or sprig of flowers, or a pretty pebble picked from the shore. Though different in looks and nature, the sisters were devoted to each other. Both swore never to leave the other on pain of death. Their mother agreed, “What one has, the other must share”.
Years passed and their old mother died. The sisters continued to dwell in their cottage by the sea. Their beauty was famed throughout the land, and they had many suitors. But neither would permit her sister a lover and they carried out all kinds of tricks to drive away the eager young men who sought their hands.
But then, the Duke of Gadlow fell in love with Rose Red, and she with him. Nothing Snow White could do would keep them apart. They married and Rose Red left the island, but she continued to visit her sister, often making the perilous journey across the sea.
A year passed, and Rose Red had a son. Then a daughter. Her visits to Snow White grew further and further apart, until they ceased entirely.
Still, Snow White paced along the cliff face, looking out to sea and waiting for a glimpse of sail, bringing her sister home again. She stopped eating and faded away from the worlds view. Still her feet trod upon the cliff path.
One day, a boat landed upon the rocky shore. A young man and woman climbed the path to the cliff top. There, they stopped to watch the marvellous sight of an ownerless pair of brown shoes walking the cliff top alone.
Then, the shoes stopped still.
Snow White had noticed the couple and their boat. An idea formed in her mind. Slipping out of her shoes she crept behind the man, stabbing him in the back. Then she killed the young woman and peeled away her skin. Using her mother’s old sewing kit, she sewed herself a coat of the woman’s skin. Next donning the woman’s clothes, she sailed to the mainland to find her sister.
Once on land, she made her way to the Gadlow’s manor house. Unrecognisable in her new skin, she found and killed the nursemaid of Rose Red’s three children. Donning her skin, she assumed the nurses position in the household. That night, while everyone was sleeping, she took Rose Red’s youngest child while she was sleeping and dropped it into the lake. Then she cut her own foot and smeared Snow White’s mouth with blood.
The next day, she told the Duke that the Duchess had eaten their child. He refused to believe it, saying the child had run away or been stolen. He declared a week of morning for the lost child.
The next night, Snow White took the middle child and dropped the sleeping bundle into the lake. Then she cut her other foot and bloodied the sleeping Duchesses mouth. The next morning she told the Duke the Duchess had eaten another child. Again he refused to believe it and declared a month of mourning for their lost child.
The next night, Snow White took their oldest son and dropped him into the lake. She cut her wrist and used the blood to mark the Duchesses mouth. The next day, in front of all the court, she accused Rose Red of killing and eating her children. The Duke had to find her guilty and, weeping, banished his wife from the court.
Rose Red travelled for many miles, sorrow weighing heavy on her heart. Eventually she lay down by a cave, too tired to continue. When she awoke, she found a bear leaning over her. She didn’t care if she lived or died, so she lay there, silently begging the bear to kill her and end her torment.
The bear sat back on his haunches.
“No, Rose Red. I will not kill you, but I will set things right”.
He explained that the nursemaid was her sister, Snow White, seeking revenge for being abandoned and forgotten. Then he told her exactly what to do to get revenge.
First, she would need to find the dwarf who lived in the northern wood. If she helped him, he would show her where to find her children.
Rose Red journeyed north, until she came to a small clearing. In the centre of the clearing lay a felled tree. The tree was shaking as though in a rage. Rose Red looked behind the tree to find a wrinkled old dwarf with a long white beard, huffing and puffing with anger. She saw that his beard had been caught underneath th
She saw that his beard had been caught underneath the tree when it fell.
“What are you gawking at? Help me or, if you cannot help, then leave. Don’t stand there like a great fool struck dumb”.
“Peace, good dwarf”, Rose Red replied. She thought for a moment. First she tried to pull his hair free.
“Fool. Do you not think I have tried that already”, he waved a tiny axe in the air. “I was going to chop this tree for firewood, but if I ever get free I will chop off your head”.
Rose Red was not afraid. She doubted the dwarf could even reach her head. But the axe gave her an idea. She caught it from the dwarf’s hands and used it to cut his beard free.
The dwarf sprang away, eyes bulging with rage. “Blasted girl! You should not have cut off my beard”.
Then he began to run away from the clearing.
“Wait!” Rose Red called. “The bear said you would help me if I helped you”.
“Damn, blasted, fool of a bear”, the dwarf muttered, stopping in his tracks. “All right, all right”.
The dwarf took
“Damn, blasted, fool of a bear”, the dwarf muttered, stopping in his tracks. “All right, all right”.
The dwarf took Rose Red back to the house of Gadlow. Instead of going to the house, he took her into the hills, up to the ruins of the old castle. They travelled into its bowels and beyond, until they reached a great, dark cave. There, playing peacefully together, they found her three children. Together, they went to see the Duke. They found him in the great hall, along with many others, including Snow White. At once, the dwarf struck her with his axe and her disguise fell away. Over time, her own face had returned and Rose Red recognised her sister.
Despite all that had happened, Rose Red the Duke to forgive her sister. But he turned Snow White away from his lands. She was never seen again, though some say her invisible form haunts the hills over Gadlow house.
