I know you guys don’t know my brother. But he’s into his looks, but he’s simple cuz he’s a dad and a husband. He’s also African American, middle class, christian, he’s 41 but looks 35. And he’s a leo. lol.

Also, I want to know which is more hip.

well the first one is more hip, but the second one fits his profile better. but i would go with number one cause that second shoe is just plain ugly. too country club lookin.

are you suppose to wear socks with boat shoes? is it ok to wear boat shoes with slacks (long pants), for a casual formal look?

Hey Confused,,,,I hope you are a guy cuz I am giving you guy information. It is best to wear boat shoes with NO shocks and yes, it looks great with long pants…like dockers for a preppy look. Hope this helps and you’ll look marvelous!

i just bought some Sperry Boat Shoes online.
the only size that had was 8.5, so i got them!

i wear size 8 in converse( but theres run in bigger sizes)
and size 9 in vans!
(like i said they only had 8.5)
do you think they will fit or do they run in a smaller or bigger size to?

Sperry Top Sider shoes run true to size (meaning what you see number wise is what you get.

Even if they fit now, if you are still growing they won’t work out (for very long). If you are already finished growing, 1/2 size may or may not matter.

My suggestion is:

1) Find out if you can return these sneakers. Normally, online stores will allow you to return them (at your expense), but there are exceptions (such as close out or sales).

2) Try the sneakers on by actually walking around, sitting, squatting, etc. If they fit, great! If not, they are not for your feet.

If you can’t return them, you have a couple of choices.

1) Give them as a gift to another person. (Of course this might not be possible as none of your friend may wear size 8.5 and/or like boat shoes).

2) Sell them on e-Bay or similar place.

3) Similar to #1 but to a stranger, non-profit, clothing shelves.

3) Keep them as part of your sneakers collection (or start a collection). LOL – this is the last resort and only gives you an excuse / reason to keep them. Yeah, lame unless you are already a collector.

I just bought a pair of the Sperry boat shoes that are the classic tan with a bit of bluish plaid. I was wondering, are these shoes meant for the spring/summer or the fall/winter, or both? Also, is it acceptable to wear socks in them? I’ve heard they get really smelly if you don’t but I was wondering if it mattered if the socks showed or what have you.

It’s usually summer wear, and sockless.

It depends upon the manufacturer not the style of sneaker. Your best bet is to actually try on the sneakers. Of course, this isn’t possible, if you’re buying over the Internet.

My suggestion is to not buy sneakers over the Internet until you really know your current size (by manufacturer).

Typically, though, I find Sperry sneakers to run true to size (and not smaller or larger). This would mean you’d go with a size 9.

And I’m looking for something pretty neutral that will go with numerous outfits.

My guy loves his "Sperry Topsiders" they come in several styles now. And probably more important, I love it when he wears them with shorts and without socks.

1. Hot Pants
2. Mini Skirt
3. Maxi Skirt or Dress
4. Bell Bottom plaid pants with a 2-3 in. cuff
5. Suede Jacket with long down to your knees fringe
6. Van’s "Boat shoes"….black or dark blue
7. Wallabies shoes
8. men and woman….long hair parted down the middle
9. Pukka shells necklace and or bracelet
10. carried a Pee-Chee with EVERYTHING in it

Oh good God, that’s just like a blast from the past. I am guilty of #’s 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and definitely #10. I used to cut out pictures of Leif Garrett and Shaun Cassidy and tape them all over my Pee Chee’s. And why the hell don’t more people know what a freaking Pee Chee is? Is that strictly a west coast thing or what?

Oh, and for #3, my dress had freaking Holly Hobbie on it. I was quite foxy.

There’s a pair of really nice boat shoes that I want but they’re Suede. How could I wear them at the beach or even on a boat if they got ruined from water though!? I’m I the only one that sees the contradiction in there being Suede boat shoes?
