Are "Sperry’s" a fashion or just boat shoes?

I asked another question and the answer resulted in that sperry’s aren’t a fashion,they are just Boat Shoes.
I highly disagree.I definitely think that sperry’s are a fashion.
What is your opinion?Are they fashionable or just simple ugly Boat Shoes?

If you are referring to Sperry Topsiders, yes, they are meant to be worn on boat decks as they are non slip and will not mar the decks on boats/ships. However, since they can also be worn every day on land, we sailors think they are "in style" at any time of the day or year. We do not change into landlubber shoes when on shore. Many lines of everyday shoes have copied this shoe so yes, it must be "fashion" too.
If you are a sincere boater, however, you may not want to wear the same shoes on your boat as on shore as stones, etc., can get caught in them and ruin the decks.
